Proofpoint: email security and data loss prevention
Summary: This article explains what Proofpoint is and how it helps protect District emails.
WHAT IT IS: Proofpoint is a set of tools used by the District to scan incoming emails (in both the jeffco.k12.co.us and the jeffcoschools.us spaces) for known security threats such as spam, phishing, and malware. These are known ways that hackers gain access to Jeffco's network infrastructure, so keeping our email safe helps to keep Jeffco's entire network safe.
Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway is used to protect the District from virus attacks and to protect you from receiving more spam messages. All incoming email is filtered by Proofpoint. If Proofpoint suspects email messages are spam or that they contain a virus, it will divert those messages to your Quarantine. You'll be alerted to messages being held in Quarantine by a daily Digest Email (if your Quarantine has messages in it; you will not receive a Digest Email if there is nothing in your Quarantine).
